Notre Dame does not seem impressed with the Big Ten

The fact remains that ND does not seem impressed with the Big Ten and will jump only if/when convinced the Big East is imploding. Getting Pitt and Rutgers might be the best way to accelerate that circumstance. That would put the Big Ten at 14 teams, and in an acceptable holding pattern pending ND's final decision. If we somehow could attract Maryland, that would be swell, but it's not as likely.
Jim Delany has allowed the Pac 10 to seize the momentum and solidify its power base more quickly and decisively. Their new, untested, greenhorn Director, Larry Scott, on the job less than a year, has out strategized, outfoxed, and outplayed Delany. Delany annoyed many with his smugness about the strength of the Big Ten's hand, and now appears to have been outsnookered and left to once again genuflect at ND's altar.
