Preseason problems plague Tigers

August started with offensive line coach Bruce Walker's arrest for driving while intoxicated, followed by significant injuries to key players, including a broken wrist for the team's leading returning receiver, Jerrell Jackson. Linebacker Will Ebner, one of the top tacklers from a year ago, was stopped for DWI. Then came Thursday's developments: Senior co-captain and starting tailback Derrick Washington was suspended indefinitely while prosecutors look into a sexual-assault accusation from earlier this summer. Thursday's scrimmage ended solemnly when cornerback Munir Prince was taken by ambulance to University Hospital after a collision on the field left him with temporary paralysis.
