Howard Griffith to return for SIU game "Under the Lights"

The University of Illinois announced Wednesday that Fighting Illini great Howard Griffith will be honored at the Sept. 11 home opener against Southern Illinois to commemorate the 20-year anniversary of his NCAA-record eight-touchdown game against the Salukis on Sept. 22, 1990. The Illini's home-opener is a night game with a 6:30 p.m. start, and the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics has titled the event "Under the Lights."
