Ranked No. 2 in the Football Championship Subdivision, the Salukis (1-0) play Saturday at Illinois (0-1) in a game that gets them some satellite time and a chance to remind everyone there's football south of Interstate 70.
"There's a feeling down here that at times we're forgotten, especially in the northern part and middle part of the state," Southern Illinois coach Dale Lennon said. "We're excited to play a Big Ten football team. There's a lot of hoopla surrounding the game."
