Crandall Head impacting Illini with effort

In 2-on-2 and 3-on-3 drills, Head tipped passes and generally made it uncomfortable for his opponent. In what could be a crowded rotation, that's how the freshman is going to earn minutes - by going bananas on the defensive end. The scoring can come later in his career.

"He's so athletic. He's a guy that really can guard. That's the one thing that's really impressed me, that he can really guard," McClain added. "He was guarding guys in practice (Wednesday) and giving them fits. ... Coach Weber told him if he wanted to play, he has to guard. He's taking it serious."
