Gun shy

I can't figure out how to do it. I want to call a Wisconsin fan in 1993 or so and ask them how they started to trust again. I feel like I need a 30 minute conversation with an Oregon State alumni. My first question would be this: "When you realized that you might have the correct systems in place and things started to turn around, how did you ever trust that you would beat the teams you were supposed to beat? How do you escape that old familiar feeling?"
