Volleyball remains at #6 in the AVCA poll; Johannah Bangert named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week

Bangert's 2.0 blocks-per-set average clinched Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this season, and the fifth of her career. The senior middle blocker was a part of an Illini defense that held opponents to .154 hitting on the weekend, beginning with her 10-block performance in a five-set victory over No. 15 Michigan. She followed up with six stuffs in a sweep of Michigan State on Saturday night to eclipse the 600-block mark in her career.
