Illinois freshman Jereme Richmond tried to claim he didn't put anything extra into the North Carolina game, what with preseason All-America Harrison Barnes starting for the Tar Heels.
"Not really," Richmond said. "The matchup was Illinois vs. UNC. It wasn't Harrison Barnes vs. Jereme Richmond - and I think that's what carried us to the victory. Nobody was on their own agenda and I was finding the right spot and I just made a play."
Richmond had a slight edge on the final stat sheet (12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assists, 3 turnovers in 26 minutes) over Barnes (8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist in 27 minutes), but Richmond was wound up throughout the night.
