Weber gives Illinois a B+ for performance so far
December 2, 2010 8:42 AM
Professor Bruce Weber handed out the grades from the basketball season's first mid-term Tuesday, a couple days after No. 20 Illinois' 79-67 win over unranked North Carolina in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
"I don't know about an A," Weber said. "Probably a B+. The second half, we played pretty good. C, C+ in the first half. A little better in the second half. It probably averages out to a B+."
The Illini (7-1) take that passing grade and a four-game winning streak to Seattle, where Illinois faces unranked Gonzaga (4-2) on Saturday (4 p.m., ESPN). Buoyed by big games from three seniors, the Illini finally found a groove in the second half against the Tar Heels, who will be a much tougher opponent in March than November.
