We have no excuse for not playing a deeper bench this year. The talent is there. Gotta give them minutes in games like this to prepare them to be effective come Big Ten time. That's one thing I like about Izzo. He recruits depth and then plays them. He has no qualms about playing frosh like Payne and Appling and even vets like Nix, Thornton and Kebler significant backup minutes. He knows it may hurt early in the year, but as the conference season and Big Dance roll around, those guys are all battle tested, and MSU runs teams down with its superior depth in March.
