Demetri McCamey noticed something was wrong after his first shot

Demetri McCamey noticed something was wrong after his first shot. He told one official he was going to walk off the court if they didn't check the ball. Jereme Richmond noticed the ball had a "6" instead of a "7." Oakland coach Greg Kampe wanted to keep the ball, because his team was winning. With 12:38 on the first-half clock, referee Mike Sanzere brought the women's ball to the scorer's table, where they switched it out. There were a lot of red faces, and still are.
One longtime observer said to me, "We should've known something was wrong when Sanzere palmed it."
