Sam Maniscalco transfers to Illinois -- Becomes sixth member of their 2011 recruiting class

Make no mistake about it--Maniscalco was intent on finding a way to join the Illini basketball program from the moment that he decided that he would be leaving Bradley. In fact, we have reason to believe that Maniscalco's transfer to Illinois was in the works from the moment that Jim Les was dismissed as the head men's basketball coach at Bradley. Maniscalco visited the Champaign campus this past weekend (Illinois was the only school he visited after his release) and that proved to be the icing on the cake...

There is no question that Maniscalco fills a huge need for Bruce Weber, as the Illini head coach was looking to add depth at the point guard position. Maniscalco will see quality minutes from the get-go and should make an immediate impact.
