Illini hope to end tourney drought

"It's like winning a bowl game in football," assistant coach Jerrance Howard said. "You can carry that momentum in the summertime and the offseason."
But most important, Illinois (19-13) simply needs to win a game in the NCAA tournament, for crying out loud. The current drought is the program's longest in three decades. Freshman Jereme Richmond was in junior high the last time Illinois was able to celebrate on this grand stage.
"I think when you come to Illinois you expect to be in these games and be here for a couple rounds," associate head coach Wayne McClain said.
