Recruiting rankings

Let me use another option: overvalued. I trust my opinion and the opinion of coaches that I believe in. I subscribe to the same belief that most coaches share - there are roughly 10 guys in each class (maybe a couple more, maybe a couple fewer) that are can't-miss, change-your-season caliber prospects. Illinois gets one of those about, what, every 20 years? I enjoy rankings. I read them, just like everyone, but I don't put much value in Nos. 20-100. There are a few evaluators I trust but not many. Most have an agenda, it usually favors the school they are covering, and you have to take that into account. You asked if they are overhyped? Ninety-nine percent of freshmen are overhyped, yes, nowhere more so than in Chicago. If you come from Chicago or commit to a high-major, your ranking gets a lift. So that should be taken into account too.
