NCAA announces no new bowls for up to three years

"The fact is we need a set of policies and criteria and practices that are consistent across all our bowls, whether it's the largest bowl or the smallest bowl, it doesn't matter," Emmert said. "The standards should be exactly the same for their accountability and their work with the NCAA licensing committee."

Emmert's announcement came as the Fiesta Bowl is restructuring after an independent report detailed possible criminal activity and lavish spending. Fiesta Bowl officials are meeting with a BCS task force and the NCAA bowl licensing subcommittee this week in New Orleans to review the bowl's status.
