Strange and surreal lives for former Illini playing overseas

In early February, Cory Bradford found himself in an apartment in Alexandria, Egypt, without an Internet or cellphone connection.

The atmosphere was tense, as he described it, while a nation awaited revolution. What we saw on CNN, Bradford saw from his window. This certainly was not the cornfields that surround his alma mater, the University of Illinois, where he made his basketball name.

"Everybody thought there was going to be a nationwide march, that it would get out of control across the country," Bradford said. "All the communications were cut off."
