Illini QBs battle for backup spot at Sunday scrimmage
August 15, 2011 7:44 AM
Looking for depth on both sides of the ball, Illinois football coach Ron Zook likely found some answers from the incoming freshman class.
During a scrimmage Sunday that was postponed because of storms the previous evening, quarterback Reilly O'Toole looked like the No. 2 quarterback, showing the intangibles and passing touch that also caught offensive coordinator Paul Petrino's eye. Running back Donovonn Young ran hard and didn't like to hit the ground, even when dragging would-be tacklers after the whistle or going out of bounds. Running back Josh Ferguson had the speed that will likely get him some playing time.
