Soccer falls to #13 Pepperdine at LSU Tournament, 4-2

The No. 20 nationally-ranked Fighting Illini soccer team dropped a fast-paced contest with No. 13 Pepperdine, 4-2, at the LSU Tournament on Friday evening. Sophomore forward Megan Pawloski totaled Illinois' first goal while redshirt-freshman forward Jannelle Flaws produced the Illini's second strike of the contest.

"We were beaten by a team that was better in the penalty box on both ends and worked harder in the counter attack moments in both directions," Illinois head coach Janet Rayfield said. "We created some quality chances early but failed to capitalize and found ourselves playing from behind again. I hope we learn that, against top-level competition, the game is won and lost in the box."
