Bigger challenge for Illini defense

Ian Thomas loves when the plot thickens.
Northwestern quarterback Dan Persa's expected return from injury couldn't have come at a better time for Thomas, Illinois' middle linebacker. Persa missed the last six games for the Wildcats with a ruptured Achilles' tendon, including last season's loss to Illinois at Wrigley Field.
"I was hoping he would (be back)," Thomas said, grinning. "He was out last year. It just makes it a little more interesting game."
