Koenning's departure leaves Beckman searching

Defensive coordinator Vic Koenning announced Wednesday he would leave Illinois after serving as the interim coach in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco, then he is expected to land at North Carolina, where he would run the defense under coach Larry Fedora.
