And postseason prospects are grim for the Illini, who have dropped six of seven. Next up are Purdue (owns a six-game win streak vs. Illinois), at Nebraska (Illini have lost four straight on the road) and at No. 3 Ohio State (no explanation necessary).
Would it be NIT or NCAA? The Illini's current record (16-9, 5-7) and the lack of worthy teams say it would be the NCAA tournament if Greg Gumbel announced the bracket today. The upcoming gantlet -- with four of six on the road or against ranked teams -- says the NIT is more likely.
