Illini defense 'embarrassed' at Arizona State, 45-14

Those 45 points and the 510 yards ASU compiled were the most given up by the Illini since a triple-overtime loss to Michigan in 2010, when the Wolverines finished with 67 points and 676 yards. The margin of defeat hasn't been this bad since a 32-point loss to USC in the Rose Bowl five years ago.

"It was a very humbling night," said Illini linebacker Jonathan Brown. "I'm embarrassed. I'm ready to go back to work. That performance we put up tonight is not us.

"I want to apologize to the fans. That's not how we play."
