Houston and La. Tech combined to run 219 plays in their game, setting an NCAA record.
"I think that's why we try to play as many guys as we can because part of the spread offenses is to wear defenses down," defensive coordinator Tim Banks said. "We've got to do the best job that we can in making sure we're keeping guys in there fresh, giving them a chance to really play at a high level because they are fresh and not fatigued."
