John Groce: "I'm glad that the community is proud of our guys and Illini Nation is excited right now"

John Groce:
"Yeah we're excited and it's great. Obviously you take that feeling over the other ones. We also know some of those things you can't control. We're an organization, a team, that tries to control what we can. We control our attitude, we control our effort, we can control our work ethic. The way that we do things on and off the court and our culture is very very important.
"That feeling that you're talking about is pretty neat. It's really a cool thing. I'm glad that the community is proud of our guys and Illini Nation is excited right now.
"Certainly the players that we had last year -- those five seniors laid down a foundation on concrete -- we're forever thankful for them for that and the way they approached last year. Our guys have continued to kinda build floors if you will on top of that concrete foundation. We're gonna keep heading in that direction and really the players deserve a lot of the credit for that excitement surrounding our program right now."
