A few early morning Illini opener thoughts before we move to football and game 2.

So happy for Aaron Jordan. He shows up every day and works, has for 3 years, and finally had some positive return.
Mark Alstork is a much better shooter than he has shown but it's so important that he attacks the rim and gets to the line.

Kipper Nichols is a great 6th man for this team. He has to clean up some defensive things and some shot selection, but talented and versatile.
Tejon Lucas really pushes the ball up the floor and has good ball security. He's showing some great leadership at the PG position and doing what he does well. Different team when he is on the floor. That said, Trent Frazier is learning and has a lot of talent. Consistency is key.

Finke and Black really bounced back from their EIU performance. Rebounded and just had more energy in this game. Loved seeing Finke pull Frazier aside after a wild shot to calm him down. Black only played 15 minutes and had 14 and 6.

You could call Brad Underwood's debut as Illinois head coach a success with 102-55 drubbing of Southern https://t.co/olmYG5R52p pic.twitter.com/Eef3sEoUBV
