I am still on board for having Groce spend the next 20 or so years driving our car.

How about this: Wright State let the players meet all the coaching candidates that came to campus. Marty Simmons, Scott Nagy, Joe Dooley.

couple of familiar names, interesting idea.

As a college soccer player, throughout the hiring process the captains on the team were allowed to interview and talk to the top candidates... I thought it was extremely helpful

Ranking the NCAA tournament coaches ... as players

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-bas.../ranking-ncaa-tournament-coaches-players-1-68

Just found this while checking out Nagy's career. Very interesting. I'd read somewhere that McCaffery was a Philly playground legend, but he's only 4 spots ahead of Nagy on here, and behind Self and way behind Kruger. They also consider Lon the best all around athlete of all the coaches listed. I knew he was a Big Eight POY, but did not know that he was also a minor league baseball player and invited to the Dallas Cowboy training camp as a quarterback. Some great pics (also includes a couple coaches on the carousel so I'm using that as an excuse to put it here.)

Is Wright st a step up from Evansville? Surprised to see Marty Simmons mentioned.

Not sure where to put this but was having a business briefing the other day with a mens basketball referee. After our meeting I asked him about what some coaches were like during games compared to off the court. He specifically said he had done a few Duke games and mentioned that Mike Krzyzewski was an absolute tool on the court. He said he will sit there and call you every name in the book and swear at you all game long to try and intimidate and then turn around and do an interview and completely change demeanor.
I'm sure we all are aware that he's a weasel, but yet another story to confirm it....can't stand that guy.

Sounds like Wooden. Had the rep of being some kind of saint and in reality he was on the refs and opposing players every minute. The biography by Seth Davis last year was an illuminating read.
Bill Walton said the two biggest trash talkers he ever saw were John Wooden and Larry Bird.
K learned from Knight so no surprise he'd be the same way, except Knight never tried to pretend he was anything but a jerk.

I just have an unexplainable sense that we dodged a bullet with Drew.

Though, honestly, I felt that way about Dino Babers before last season and completely changed my mind, so these things can be fleeting.

It will be interesting to see if Roger goes along to Vandy, is in consideration for the Valpo job, or ends up somewhere else altogether.

I'd love to see him get a head coaching job somewhere, even if it is at a smaller school than Valpo.

From the Valpo site

Roger Powell Jr. is entering his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Valparaiso men’s basketball program in 2015-2016. Powell was named the top assistant coach in the Horizon League by Next Up Recruits in the summer of 2013.

Gotta believe he will get a sniff there. I am sure drew will try his hardest to get him to come with

Interesting

Former IU asst Ray McCallum fired from Detroit...present Michigan asst sitting at JB's right hand is former Detroit player when they went to the NCAA in the mid 90s Bacari Alexander.

Summer could see some staff shake ups around the league.
