Worst part of this game is Valentine officiating. Hadn't seen him all year. Thought maybe he retired.

Great Win!

As far as DJW is concerned, is it possible he has talked to coach already and decided to transfer after this semester?

That would be dumb. He's already burned his eligibility for this season.

I predict Djw will play some productive minutes for us several times going forward

Just finished watching. Great win. Two things stick out to me.

1. Black is a much improved player. I have said this after the last couple of games too. he is going to be a big key to this season.
2. JCL scored 12 without hitting a 3. If he can get the drive going with some consistency to go along with his outside shot. Watch out.

VCU played like crap, which is a major reason for the result. Still, very solid win.

Couldn't agree with this more.

Got up 11-3 and then started forcing stuff, making dumb passes, and taking ill advised shots. And Obviously the injury to Lewis in the first half hurt... and he wasn't fully the same the rest of the game.

We put up a couple of runs to get it with in 2 pts (40-38 I think it was).... and then we just forgot what got us back in the game... and it all just unraveled again.

We also tried to live & die by the 3 (just like old times)... and of course we weren't hitting & got burned. Obviously Lewis couldn't do much after the injury and they were playing cautious with him in the 2nd half. Also not going to win many games going 16-53 from the field.

As for the officiating.... the officiating was bad on both sides today.... and no I'm not trying to blame the refs for this game.... If it was a 1 possession game you coulda made a case that had certain calls gone the other way.... maybe we win.... but clearly after that 11-3 start we lost focus, momentum & our heads just weren't in the game after that.

Anyway, congrats on your win... good win for you guys... Hope you guys keep winning.

VCU is not a tourney team, looks like our O from last year

In regard to this... the only thing I will say is, there's a lot of season left. Last year we were 8-5 going into conference play.... and looked pretty bad at times similar to tonight.... including losing 3 in a row to Ga Tech, Fla State & Cincy.

Tonight we certainly did not look like a tourney team.... that's true.... but we've got time to get our act together.... tho the next 3 games are not easy...Ga Tech, @ odu, and Middle Tennessee who is on a tear early this year.

We just need to wake up!!! and get our head out of our butts & play like the team I know we can!

Just curious, what bad calls/no calls did you see that went in Illinois favor? Obviously, we as fans all see things one sided for our team, but when the announcers on a national broadcast are openly declaring calls as bad multiple times during a game (at least 4 by my count) and each time they are benefitting one team, I don't call that bad both ways.

My favorite post on their board is "we got Mayan Kiir, we won in the long run." Uhh, Kiir would've been, what, our 4th best recruit in this class?

We were more talented and just flat out brought it today. Fun to watch.

Didn't see that game as I was on the road. Hopefully the good results keep coming. I saw inspired moments in our last game, did we see more of those today? It sounded like we played much better defense according to the radio broadcast.
