So are they us or are we them?

For those looking for a glimmer of hope, Iowa is 0-3 in B1G road games thus far season while losing by an average of 20 points in those games. They lost by 22 @ Purdue, 3 @ Nebraska, and by 33 @ Northwestern.

It just scares me that they beat Purdue. I know they were at home, but they still beat Purdue.

Lose this one and the wheels are off the wagon. I hope we win for everyone's sake. It's sad to see a team that is so visibly shaken... Once proud, we are on the cusp of being a cellar dweller. This team is trending in that direction and I just hope they can find a way to turn nasty.

No way. We've been pretty solid at home for the most part and Iowa is not a good team.

To those saying there's no plausible route to the tournament, you're wrong. But things are looking very bleak. Lose one of the next two and we're pretty much done.

Here's how I would rank the remaining games in terms of likelihood of victory:

Iowa
@Rutgers
Penn State
Minnesota
@Iowa
@Nebraska
Michigan State
Northwestern
@Penn State
@Northwestern
Wisconsin

We probably need 8 more wins. Losing the easiest remaining game is not a good idea when you need to go 8-3. But I think we will win.

We'll win all of the top 3. We don't need the bottom three. The problem is needing to sweep the middle five (or make up for any losses with wins in the bottom three). Tough to see that happening given the way we've been playing.

I hear Iowa is a pretty white collar team so that should bode well for us.

You guys that are counting the Penn State game a sure win are dreaming. They are really good, and it'll be a dogfight to beat them. I'm hoping we do, but....

I'm still holding out hope that our seniors realize this is their last chance and start playing out of their minds. But that has to start now. Need 3 of the next 4 to have a shot at dancing realistically. They are all winnable, even Wisconsin because all home games are winnable.

I just fear that the blowouts could cause the team to lose hope. This game should show if that is true or not.

I was probably the first one here to see JG as a below sub par coach, so I'm no eternal optimist with orange-colored sunglasses. But something about this game makes me think we pull it out. No score prediction, but just a gut feeling I have.

You say that as if we're expected to lose this game. We better win, it might be the easiest game left on our schedule.

Is there such a thing as a "below sub par" coach? Wouldn't it just be, "sub par?" :D

I know some of our losses have been ugly this year, but up to this point, I still feel like we have only lost two games that we should have won. At home vs. Winthrop, and at home vs. Maryland. We will have to win some games on the road, but all is not lost yet.

If we end up losing this one, then I would definitely be concerned.

Illinois should be about a 6 point favorite in this game. If Iowa wins, it would be an upset.

lol I was trying to say I think he's a terrible teacher of the game in a more diplomatic way.

Iowa is a pretty bad team. As bad as the Illini are, they "should" win this game at home. If they lose this game, I think you are really looking at a nightmare 2-16 or 3-15 conference record. For those of you still maintaining that there is a plausible path to the tournament, you may want to look up plausible in the dictionary again.

They also beat Purdue at home. I feel like this is a game where Jok could go for 30+. Additionally, with all of the recent dark clouds surrounding us and Groce, if Iowa goes on some sort of run, especially early on, and we get down by 10+, I think we could be in for some booing from the home crowd.

This season has the feeling of Weber's last season here where the players certainly care, but there isn't much of response from them if we get down early or by double digits. I say we lose 78-64.

I think we win. I don't have a score prediction but neither team defends well so could get into the 70's for both teams, maybe more.

I don't see any games on the schedule that we have no chance of winning. Maybe @Northwestern but we always seem to play close there. The rest of our road games are against lower tier Big Ten teams and I think the Wisconsin game could be closer than people think. Being at home makes a huge difference. If we win the next two (which is a big if, @PSU will be tough), that would put us at 4-5 which a lot of people said they'd be happy with after the first 9 games.
