@Jkat who's your leader right now?
Yep. Only school that has a shot with Billy is Indiana

I don't follow him, but reading him today, he certainly is expecting something big.
Can I inquire as to why only Indiana? Has Mike Pence been to Olkahoma? What's he been up to now!Yep. Only school that has a shot with Billy is Indiana
Could this be a reference to Mike Brown, Golden State assistant?
until Friday night at the very earliest......more likely Monday or later. I think anything out there before then will be garbage. Fasten your seat belts....I'm sure more rumors to come 1st.
not cool, Doug.

If Illinois gets Tony Bennett after Mizzou gets Cuonzo-- Border war will he first one to 60? (Adv Illinois btw)
Since the need for a great recruiter is obvious, especially since Zo-Noz, and since most assistants handle the bulk of the recruiting, which coach we are after has the best potential recruiting assistants. I don't know much about these staffs and was curious if anyone knows who might have Midwest ties that would benefit us. I mean, I know Miller has recruited Chicago but what about Bennett/Marshall
No one here knows that info, but there are 100 pages of guesses
Whether Cuonzo succeeds long term at Mizzou as far as record could be debated, but him recruiting close to Illinois will have an impact. It definitely increases recruiting competition, no doubt about that. If recruiting was not very high on some posters' priorities, fine. But history proves that we need a significant upgrade to become consistently competitive in B1G and national level.
I have always claimed that to be successful at Illinois, consistently, we need a great recruiter. It is an absolutely necessary condition, though not sufficient. The hiring of Cuonzo at Mizzou turns up the dial a few notches as far as need to counter with a very dynamic recruiter, unless of course someone believes that his hiring will have no effect, or that recruiting is not all that important.

Good news. My boy @ESPN1050_Ryan reporting Illini recruit Mark Smith to Illinois is nearly a done deal. .
If this were true (not saying it is) wouldn't that mean that Smith knows who the coach will be and that the decision has been made on that front?

Sorry, but I don't watch this that closely... but do coaches active in the tourney announce that they're taking jobs elsewhere? I can't think of a situation like that - a head coach of a team in the dance who has announced already that he's gone next year. Don't they do that after they exit the tourney?
And he most likely would commit knowing the rest of the class is staying as well right?
Coaches coach through the tourney for sure. As I mentioned before, basketball is different from football where a coach will depart in the middle of the bowl season.
As in Monty Williams done deal?
That would be great news. One, we get Mark Smith. Two, I don't think Mark Smith would commit without knowing the coach. Three, I don't think Mark Smith would commit immediately on the spot if the coach wasn't a homerun. Now that's entirely speculation.
