Do you compromise on a coach just to keep Tilmon or do you risk losing Tilmon(and no true big on the roster) for your homerun hire of a coach.

Short term goals = Tilmon
Long term goals = homerun hire of a coach

You're assuming the only value Walker brings to the table is Tilmon. I think that isn't true. He's great at recruiting and has many contacts.

This whole process makes it much easier to understand that "tourney or bust" is almost a necessary criteria for letting a coach go. I know there were many who felt that Groce should be fired even if we snuck into the tourney. Can you imagine how much more difficult this would be (for JW and this board) if we were in the tourney only to get beat by 30 points last night? Meanwhile, Martin and Keats gone, IU open, and we aren't even opening the job until Monday.

Also, I really have no point here - just rambling.

The funny part is we still have all the top options on the table and people are worried that we lost 2 guys further down the list. Honestly the best thing for us right now would be a long run for UCLA and hope we offer Archie enough that he feels he can't wait to see what happens with Alford. I believe Indiana is going to pursue Marshall and Alford before taking a shot at Archie.

BOOM! Feed my ego.
The idea that Josh Whitman values an assistant coach and an 18 year old power forward more than a great head coach is now the silliest thing I've seen on IL that was said with a straight face.

Maybe true. But if you are highly sought, you are not letting someone put stipulations on being hired. No reason to work for an overbearing boss when you have options.

I don't think there's stipulations but you can say "We have a great incoming class and have been recruiting really well due to Walker. You can choose whoever you want but be aware if you let Walker go, we may lose our recruiting class and he will most likely recruit for one of our regional rivals, causing you many recruiting headaches". A smart coach would realize the repercussions. Snacks I think was let go because of a power struggle. Idk if this is the same situation.

Yep. This thread has officially jumped the shark when this point is even debatable. The notion that Whitman would make this kind of mistake is ridiculous.

Brad Underwood is a possibility. Eliminated yesterday. They may be meeting in Stillwater soon.
