Gonna repeat this again...more disappointed in our defense than offense. They were tackling so well earlier this season, now everyone is barely throwing their arms around people.

YAYYY fumble. Momentary joy, but still very worried about ^ as a more overarching issue.

I know the D has been horrible & you just want the half to end.
But interesting Lovie was using timeouts at midfield last week when he should not have, and this week he doesn't use them when Rutgers is backed up at their own 15 when you definitely should use them

Our competitiveness may continue to dwindle as the season drags on. Personally, I don’t view it as a lack of coaching ability but more so on the limited experience and depth of the roster.

When we’re playing this many kids, one or two years removed from HS, they’re going to take their lumps - and they’ll be better for it. Hate to see us lose, but very engaged with the foundation process.

not sure where you are going with this
Here's the Point:

Given the inconsistency (at best), and general apathy of our program over the last 54 years, I'm not sure we should be firing coaches who go 13-12 over their final two seasons --- with a peak record of 9-4 two years earlier --- and take us to bowl games in 3 out of 5 seasons.

Admittedly, the jury is still out on the current regime. Maybe we'll get to a higher level sometime soon.

I'm at the game so can someone explain to me why Marchese started and is playing so much?

I read elsewhere that Nelson is not dressed so I get why Degroot is playing so much but I'm confused as to why Marchese is playing so much?

PS: This is easily the worst crowd of the Smith era although I'm thankful Rutgers doesn't travel well.

No question the results are primarily due to youth. Just look at the depth chart.

What concerns me about the future is that I've seen no evidence that this staff can outcoach anybody. It'd be nice to see some evidence in the 2nd half. Lots of recruits watching today.

The fact the JGJ is back out there to start the 2nd half tells me that the staff doesn't give a s##t about this season. Solely playing for years to come. If you're not going to play Thomas now, you better not play him all season.

FT - I know you're one of our most faithful. Sorry -- unable to answer for you. Perhaps someone else knows something.....

Despite that interception off Dudek's hands.......

Our WR's are proving today that they're clearly our #1 unit. It's unfortunate that getting the ball to them is so dependent upon our less-than-stellar OL and QB.

That's okay! I was just curious why Watson isn't out there? Our defense can't even slow them down.

Yup, and I thin our O-line will definitely improve. QB is the biggest question mark. George throws a lot of off target balls and the end result is a lot of picks.

For those of you using the "playing lots of freshman" rationale for optimism, let me ask you this. Do you notice any progression? I am asking cus most of you are more analytical of performance than I am. But do these players, does this team, seem to be progressing or regressing? A learning curve should start steep and taper off, I dont see it....
