Another silver lining.....it's still baseball season! 8:08 eastern tonight. It might be time to change threads.

That play should be called late hit. I hate the possibility of it getting overturned as a penalty. I agree with review if a player is gong to be ejected though

If you are referring to Green's play, hard to blame coaching. That is a play EVERYONE should know to get away from, and I'm sure it gets covered in practice anyway.

sorry you're right. this is an excellent coaching staff and great team. smith should get votes for big ten coach of the year

Now where did I say that? I was referring to one play where I'm saying it is nearly impossible to blame coaching on a bone headed play.

We are a shell of a D1 football team with all these injuries and the fact that we don't have a D1 quarterback.

No other option really. Gotta take our lumps

Then, this is BY FAR the biggest indictment of the Illini coaches. They had 18 months to get someone, ANYONE here to avoid playing Crouch/George. Absolutely unacceptable.

What was that one VT transfer's name? I think that is who they wanted to be taking the snaps this year...

There were questions about his grades from the beginning. They were planning to RS Thomas (obviously), too. Their eval that Crouch/George could play in the B1G is making this season a nightmare. It didn't have to be THIS bad.

Illini Defense has some fight to them. I like. Tough day for the unit, but at least they don't quit.

Agreed, let's see a TD. We need it for so many reasons.

Indiana is a better football program than us, by a mile.

Btw, not a fan of J Leman today. Seems to be going out of his way to sound impartial to the point of being anti-Illini.

I know he needs to be impartial, but yikes.

Hilarious. I'm going to guess Lovie Smith is going to take a look at the film and get this corrected. If he can stay awake in the film room.

We are easily the worst team in the Big Ten. Just hoping this is the last year I ever have to make that statement.

How many years have we been able to say this? Why can't the flagship school in the fifth-largest state in the nation field at least a reasonably competitive football team? It is so frustrating.

And it's not like our basketball team has been holding up its end for being a "basketball school."

This is more or less true.

The best case for Lawson was arriving in August. You don't bet on a QB with academic problems that didn't win the job at a JUCO. Yes, he was the backup at his JUCO. Lawson was never the answer and it wasn't bad luck that he didn't make it here - it was predictable.

Note that they still haven't tried to recruit a JUCO QB for next year.

Edit: I think the lack of urgency at the QB position is a Lovie thing. He doesn't value the position as much as other coaches do.

I'm on board the Cam train. Get him in there. No way we finish the year without tapping him anyway.

It’s easy to forget that 2 years ago we fired our coach for abuse, and just 18 months ago we still had an interim head coach on a one year contract about whom our interim AD said, “Obviously, it's not ideal but for now, but I don't think it'll put a dagger in the heart of the program.”

Today has been awful, but rock bottom wasn’t very long ago at all. Trying to have patience.
