I'm going with 12 wins over the next 2 seasons (18 and 19). Guessing 5 this season, and 7-8 in 19.

Yeah I think these are reasonable expectations. Everyone just needs to get through this last bad year. We have to remember this isn’t a college coach taking a college job who already had recruiting pipelines set up. This is an nfl coach who had to create relationships with schools that barely even know our name and some that knew our name too well and not in a good way. Yeah he made a mistake at first at coordinator but so what he was giving a guy who looked up to him a shot. But the fact that he took just two seasons to evaluate and make the changes to put us in a better predicament to win means that he’s all in we should honestly be grateful to where we are to this point. JW gave him gave flour and told him to make a cake

Texas went from 10 to 7 to 25 and back to 3. Are you implying that the drop to 25 wasn’t a result of the lack of success on the field from Charlie Strong?

He went from 5-7 to 5-7. Point is that no matter Texas output on the field they will always have great recruiting, unlike Illinois where we either need some great recruiters or show we can wins (as of now we have the former).

I've considered Fleck to be the exact opposite to Lovie when it comes to personality and demeanor as a head coach. I think Illini fans may have a fear that Fleck succeeds and Lovie doesn't. Meaning we took the exact opposite type of guy we needed.

I am NOT saying this will happen, but it might be in the back of some of our fans' minds when they see PJ's emotion and the way he talks and think "man, we should've got a guy like that".

We already have. His name was Ron Zook. The schtick ran out pretty quickly, and his recruiting suffered mightily.

Well if u expect him to win 7+ this season then u might as well as him for his job now the average linemen takes 2 years to develop which means that those Bobby roundtree is already ahead of the curve give Lovie time also if u get rid of Lovie who r u going to hire to replace him no one who cares about job security

I think 4-5 win this year.7+ next year

4-5 wins plus competitive against the top of the conference would feel better. 6 wins would be too much to expect, but would feel excellent. i wish we were still playing last years schedule.

And then we had Coach Lasagna, who liked to chew on the sidelines. How that doofus ever got the job is beyond me. Must have been the best 3 hour interview that he's ever had in his life.

The guy couldn't get through a 2 minute interview without sticking his foot in his mouth. How did he ever get through an entire interview?

The greatest mystery in Illini history is how Mike Thomas sat in a room with Tim Beckman and decided "this is the guy I'm staking my legacy on".

It was often said that Beckman wasn't as bad in one-on-one personal settings, but still.

Easier to get a job when you're AD ranks down there as the worst in program history.

Moses Okpala recently visited Illinois and just had a crystal ball for Illinois. One of the higher ranked DE's being targeted by the staff, plus he's from STL.

Great news! And, to be fair, the crystal ball came from someone that is not an Illinois reporter trying to drum up article views.

What would be even more ridiculous is if that dude on the right was his dad!

Last guy we recruited at that position that looked that good was Craig Drummond.
Not sure what happened to him but lots of similarities physically and on film.

Funny we were talking about Texas. Good article. Key note:
Just as painful for Texas was Wilson's citation of the Longhorns' recent failures to develop elite high school prospects into early-round NFL Draft picks.

His commitment has been the highlight of my last few days. A local stud on a premier team in the state leaving to OSU. The narrative to spin from that is phenomenal when you consider how entitled UT fans are. And spinning it I have been...

I like living, so I would not be trying to block him.

Block him He is a running backs worst nightmare it’s just that much further that have run out to make a play that extra three steps makes a huge difference
