Winged Warrior
He's listed at 6' 8" with a 7' 1" wingspan. I think he can figure out the rim protecting part. Sounds like a hard worker and definitely a champion. Good get this late in the game for the Illini.

Come on Loyalty, I lay down for a two hour nap, come back.....nothing about Higgs' growth plates?

It's so obvious they are still open. He'll be 6'9 1/2" by December. :D:illinois:

Think I saw higgs asked out in March??? I could be mistaken. So no issue taking college classes. I was wondering why it took awhile to hear that the staff was interested. I would guess they reached out earlier than we heard.

Also sounds like ed morrow with a shot is our prototype 4? Don’t remember if he could shoot, then prototype would just be ed morrow.

Not gonna quote the posts but a couple pages earlier people were talking about Higgs ability as a rom protector. Remember there are two types of rim protection, blocks and charges. Kane might be the only guy who can block shots, but if we got guys smart enough to be in the right place and tough enough to take charges, that can be just as good, if not more effective.

Ed Morrow with a shot isn't anything resembling Ed Morrow. He wouldn't be a great fit if we had any depth in the front court.

I'll stand by Kipper as growing into the perfect 4 mold. I've said it before but I think if he puts it together he'll get NBA looks.

Higgs Seems like a fair trade for Ebo. Certainly seems like athletic enough with a 7'1"" wing span to play defense. Maybe not a true rim protector but an improvement over Finke if he will take the charge. Impressed by Kipper's build and think he has possibility of replacing Black. Would feel better if Higgs and Kane were there now. The capability is there if the staff can develop them quickly enough.

Welcome to the University of Illinois, Anthony Higgs! We like to hear that you're a gym rat. And, BTW, it's always nice to open a present in the summer and see what's inside the package. :congrats:

Most important question: What's his jersey number going to be?

1988-89 Team roster heights 1-6'8" 2-6'7" 3-6'6" 2-6'5" 1-6'4" 1-5'10"

2018-19 Team roster heights 1-7'0" 1-6'9" 1-6'8" 1-6'7" 1-6'6" 3-6'5" 1-6'3" 2-6'2"

Each year 8 players 6'5" or taller

Team in size is equivalent to BU's example. Don't remember rankings but believe players much lower rankings on this roster.

Staff is so efficient that they got a Higgs commitment and he never visited C/U.:thumb:

I just don't see how a team with so much depth in the backcourt can finish 12th in the conference. I don't know if we'll finish much higher than that but I think 12th is our floor. Depending on how our bigs adjust to this level, I could see us as high as 8th but I think 10th is probably realistic unless we get a solid 5th year big. Either way, I'm really looking forward to seeing the youth show flashes of potential. I expect the following year to be pretty big for us.

I think the old poker adage of "if you can't spot the sucker at the table, you're it" applies well here.

Who are we passing? Name them. We already have our noses in front of Rutgers, who are the others? (Unless you're in the Steve Pikiell Mafia like I am)

6'8 and more importantly athletic and defensive minded 6'8...that is like having a 6-10 or more in BU system I think.

Said many months ago, I think BU is going after the Flying ILLINI makeup and I would be surprised if he took anyone over this height range without athleticism. 6-5, 6-10 or below with athletic abilities is what we need not another lumbering 6-10 or 7'!

Great get, may be a better version of Hinson when all is said and done. Will be interesting to mirror their careers as they go along.:chief:

I agree, after watching his tape. He is much more appealing to the team than what you would think. Very athletic, active, knock down threes.

Could be a player that turns into a great 3 and D essential player to a final four team down the road ;)

People please study your Illinois basketball history before comparing anything to the Flyin' Illini, the single greatest collection of basketball talent in the modern era at Illinois.

You might as well compare the roster heights to the Golden State Warriors - the comparison would be about as relevant.

On one hand I'm almost giddy that we finally got a much needed commit. On the other hand I almost have to laugh at this board and myself for getting this excited by the number 385 ranked player. I have no doubt he will see minutes, I just hope he can pick up the system quickly and provide some solid defense in the middle.
