I'm probably over thinking this, but I would imagine the pressure defense we use might be more effective, due to the situation in Maui. Everyones out of their comfort zone, so disrupting it even more might give us a bigger advantage than usual. Not saying I think we win this game, but I expect some of the sloppiest games we play this year will come in the next week.

I was one of the biggest Groce supporters FOR SURE, but I remember having such a "this is too good to be true" feeling, especially after the win at Gonzaga. However, man was that fun. We were truly riding high again for the first time in years. I'm excited to get back to that level. Giving Gonzaga a game would be a huge step.
It always makes me shake my head when people say they have more fun watching Underwood ball than anything Groce ever did. Year 1 of Groce (particularly through New Years) was probably the most fun I've had watching Illini basketball since Dee left. We won Maui, beating Butler in the championship by 17 points in our closest game, then went and beat #10 Gonzaga at Gonzaga. Even close losses to Missouri and Purdue, we beat #8 Ohio St. at home and were still ranked 12. How was that not more fun than last year for people? Boggles the mind...

Many on here were legitimately considered that Groce wasn't getting paid enough and would jump for a more prestigious job.

You could be right. I am 55 and even an hour time change for me takes a week or so to adjust. That could just be my age though.

55? You know it just gets harder, don't you??

My feeling on Bill Walton is that I want him on the call of someone else's game that I'm only half paying attention to late in the evening. He's a funny change of pace in that setting.

It's not as much fun when it's a game I actually care about.

Underwood: Trent Frazier traveled with the team to Hawaii and is still going through concussion protocol. "Once you're in that process, there's no decisions. It's just a matter of how he progresses through that." Day by day.

You answered your own question.

If Trent plays, the Illini can definitely beat Gonzaga on a neutral court with some hot shooting.

With the additions of Ayo, Feliz and GB, the Illini are a top-25 team too, even if everyone doesn't realize it yet.
I believe that they can be a Top 25 team, but there is about 80 teams that can make that argument, and quite frankly we can’t make that any time soon unless we pull off some upsets in Maui.

We are not a top 25 team until we get Konsistent Kipper that plays with the same motor as Ayo, Feliz, and Giorgi, and also Adonis giving us an average B1G center around 10-15 minutes per game.

You are absolutely over thinking this.

We can't create enough turnovers to equate to the amount of second shots, third shots, dunks and easy put backs that they're going to get.

This is one of those games where our frontcourt is going to get exposed badly.

All that said, I'd rather play a game like this early and see what we're about than beat up on the Chicago States of the world.

It could be ugly, but these games pay dividends down the road.

We're not a top 25 team until we start winning games. Until we actually finish over .500 in the Big Ten. That hasn't happened in a LONG time.
