Love it. We just land Luke Ford, the highest ranked TE since forever, and the board is 'ok great... now where was I, oh yeah in-state recruiting.' Meaning that landing top-rated players has become so common lately that it's barely a blip. Hope this trend continues.

Even if he is, three to four coaches coming to visit him 2 hours away can change that immediately. No different than sitting in Coopers house eating dinner. The same energy will land both players. This is the point I am making. Unfortunately the energy as a whole isn't the same for in state recruits which is what most coaches see. Again, the good thing is the current attempt to change that. Should help out in the long run.

AJ's grandpa lived on my dorm floor in Forbes...does that sound old or what!? Come on down young man and make Memorial Stadium rock like the early 80's!

Wait when the Smith center is completed and you start having top players Camp at Illinois. We still have a long ways with instate recruiting, have lost lots of talent to Minny, Iowa, NU, and MSU. Notice how omitted the ones that went to ND and Michigan.

Excited to see how this RS offense incorporates the new talent.

Assuming waivers go through, this would be a pretty impressive offense. Am I forgetting anyone?

QB: Williams/Rivers
RB: Corbin/Epstein/Bonner/Cumby
WR1: Thomas/Carter
WR2: Smalling/Davis
Slot: Cumby/Williams
TE: Ford
OL: Lowe, Kramer, Green, Palczweski, Boyd, Verdis

Welcome Luke Ford! Let's hope the sick grandpa waiver goes through.
I know it isn't meant this way, but I feel dirty reading/referring to the kids sick grandpa as our ticket to playing right away.

I know what you mean, but I would say bittersweet instead of dirty.

IlliniCC already came up with a depth chart in the Looking ahead to 2019 thread.

According to 247, there are 11 signees, 1 hard commit. We have 2 transfers. If I recall correctly, there were 16 scholarships available with 14 being spoken for, possibly 15 if AD Miller decides to join the party, leaving one left. Any names we should be keeping an eye on or does it go to Rey Estes?

Estes isn’t coming here. He isn’t a take for the staff.

Sorry if this was covered already, but since Luke only played in one game for GA this year is he eligible for a redshirt? Would be a huge plus if possible but im not totally clear on the rules. Thanks!

He played in 9 games, not eligible for a RS.
