The opener will not be close

I am hoping not also.
The last few years the OOC games seemed to be a grab bag of nervousness as Lovie was waiting for his kids to grow up.
Well, they are grown up now, Lovie appears to have a new outgoing personality, it's the second season of Rod's offense, Ligashesky has the special teams playing well again..
What is there not to like about 3 blowouts to start the season?
Let's go get'm all!!

Guys, self-aware geezer here...

what is the origin of "Littyville"? What does it mean?

'Littyville' has taken off. I want to ask you again because people constantly ask me: What is 'Littyville'?

Thad Ward: "Littyville, like I always say, it's a state of mind. It's something we're having fun with. Around here, we say we like to have a lot of fun. We're going to keep it really, really fun around here. We're talking about packed stadiums, packed venues. Everybody's just 'litty', having fun, in Littyville. This is where it is. That's just a state of mind. You always have to have fun. You see us walking around with smiles. You see us walking around understanding and embracing the grind, but we're never down with where we are. We're coming up. This place will be Littyville, and it is Littyville. It's just a vision we have of seeing things come to fruition. But it's going to happen."
You and Cory Patterson have Littyville hats. Are you putting out a clothing line soon?

Thad Ward: "Clothesline is coming out. Littyville! Nah, but it has taken off. I laugh about it..."
When did you think of that term 'Littyville'?

Thad Ward: "Man, it was a song ("Litty") by Meek Mill. If you go down on Green Street, if you go down to get something to eat -- that's all I was doing down there -- you just see that this place is really nice. It's a good environment, a really fun campus and a nice place to be. You go back to the North Carolina game (in 2016) and how electric this place was, you have to have a vision of what this place is going to be. You go to that last basketball game and how this place is going to be. We want to have our fans and the players in this state here in 'Littyville' and making the place the best it can be."

I checked into this, and it turns out that Robinson is actually the second coming of Jason Verduzco.

How could I forget? Absolutely agree! Thanks for doing the research.

With BTN's shakeup, does anyone know whether overflow channels will be available to stream live when logged into foxsports.com using cable tv provider login info?

I do not know with certainty but YouTube TV has dedicated BTN overflow channels, which leads me to believe they will be utilized as usual.

The season openers the last 2 years have been some of the worst football I’ve seen in a long time. Really hope the experience we have now has us ready to just come out and take care of business. 48-17 Illini. We run for a LOT of yards

That's how it's supposed to work, all the overflow games available at https://www.foxsports.com/live and the Fox Sports App with cable provider login.

All the overflow games may or may not be available on your cable TV, check the GameFinder.

Illinois & Maryland are the very first schools to test the overflow arrangement on this new system on Saturday. I have the utmost faith it'll all work out, Go Illini

From memory, BTN2go was good with making game replays available but fox sports was not. Hopefully it changes this fall; so I don’t have to remember to record games.

Hopefully come Saturday what the game finder shows on Monday appears on Saturday. Last year it was inaccurate more than once for our Sun Coast system.

12 points for our opponents...

Is that 4 FG? 2 TDs with 2 missed extra points? Or, 1 TD, 1 FG and 1 safety?
I was going with the "bend but don't break" actually working. 4 FG

My Prediction

UoI 31 - 28 Akron

My Reasoning: Week 1 is always a messy week that teams use to hone in on what they need to work on (ie UF & UM); I think the Illini will be no different. Peters lack of experience with the current WR corps will limit the amount of explosive plays against Akron (that and Akrons secondary is arguably its best unit); even though I think they will jump out to a big lead, they will let Akron come back in the 4th. Im thinking they let up 2 garbage time scores (one off of a boneheaded turnover) to make the final score 31-28.

I'm not sure how they contain our running game and I suspect we'll be conservative there until we get some good points on the board - I think we go up by 3 TDs and then put more of an emphasis on passing. I think its a 3 td win with good guys getting at least 38 just cause we'll start slow and sloppy - do well in mid two quarters and then let some of the depth chart get 1/2 of the 4th quarter...

Just looking at recent Illini scores, and they scored 19 last year against S. Fla -- TD and 4 FGs, and Purdue scored 29 against Illini two years ago -- 3 FGs and 3 TDs with one of them having a missed 2-pt conversion. Plenty of possibilities.
