Oops, as soon as I posted the above, I thought of another, Lester Quinones. 2019. I watched him once on tv this year not too long ago. Seemed to be playing pretty well. But what caught the eye was that he was wearing throw back shorts, the kind that were in fashion up until, when, the 90s? Short shorts. Just looked kind of strange. And he was the only one on Memphis wearing them. Which brings up a question. Presumably one could add everyone from the scholarship list as they were all offered scholarships and hence we were interested in them. But that would be a big list. So whom to include? We have not always been privy to whom the Illinois coaches are interested in and whom they have pursued diligently. I mean, I seem to remember that Illinois was very interested in Quinones but that was only hearsay, probably from IL. I know that the Illinois coaches should be consulting the posters on IL but they apparently they don't. So to add Quinones or not to add Quinones?

But don't get me wrong. This is excellent

I saw Ryan Kalkbrenner, 7 footer from Trinity Catholic last Friday, Illinois and Purdue both wanted him, he is going to Creighton. Collinsville had him talking to himself. Only had 5 points going into the 4th quarter.

Raysean Taylor of Collinsville a 6'1" leaper went off for 53 points against TC. Only had 3 three pointers, everything else hard drives into the lane. In the course of 4 minutes in the 4th quarter, Taylor took the ball right at Kalkbrenner for his 3rd, 4th and 5th fouls. I liked Kalkbrenners coordination but Taylor makes athletic people look unathletic.

I still can't believe Ray'Sean Taylor didn't wait to commit and see if his stock rose.

I saw Okoro play at UW 10 days ago--I think he started and logged decent minutes in the first half, but did not stand out for anything, was not in the game at crunch-time, and the UW center dominated through the 1st half. He is really cut but seemed too deliberate and OR had several other bigs who were more dynamic and a much bigger factor--the OR guard Pritchard won it on a hesitation fadeaway long 3 in OT, which seems to be their go-to play when they need a score.

Man, this list is kinda painful to go through, particularly for the guys that transferred out. Not that we're missing what they're doing, but because it brings back the high hopes I had for them coming into Illinois and the (relative) bummer their career has turned into -- thinking DJ Williams and JCL in particular.

Nothing will ever surpass what took place on this board the week before the DJax commitment. Crazy times

The Scout Board leading up to the 2007 Signing Day (constantly growing concerns about losing Gordon, surprise last second visit from D-Rose) was on a number of magnitudes bigger than D-Jax. Still feeling the buzz of the 2005 season, this was going to be Weber flexing his recruiting chops, getting a top recruit so quickly from Indiana, Adidas, "Everything is Fine - Goodnight", Reggie Rose, Weber not willing to go into "play the recruiting game $$", and constant rumors about what was going on behind-the-scenes.

I only heard that comment about 15 times while walking from the Belleville East gym to my car and once in church the next morning.

Raysean Taylor had a 42 point game his sophomore year, most amazing, he was 29 for 29 from the free throw line. He is a scorer, that's what he does.

Marcus LoVett
Marcus Lovett is the kind of guy that I think would have helped himself playing in B10. Best handles I think ever saw and amazing vision. Last I saw he was overseas. Just a wizard with the ball. I think we bailed when he was iffy with qualifying.
