How does this strengthen our position in Texas? Joe Price, who she replaces, has long ties to Texas. He grew up in Texas, played his high school ball there and coached there for many years. His dad also coached there for over 30 years.
Idk maybe cause he’s at UTSA and has been for like 4 months?

So the argument is that she is better than an empty chair? Hard to argue with that.

Bro, give me a break. She has an amazing resume, is media savy, and has worked at several different levels of football promotion. She will help reach into TX and prob starting steering our own HS football media just like the longhorns and Alabama. This is great.

But he left to go to UTSA, so our position was weakened when he left. He was not fired, but we chose to hire someone that has lived, worked, and tied to Texas. I guess that's why I said what I said

Would we have any interest in Jarrian Jones? Former 4 star cornerback with 3 years of eligibility left transferring from Mississippi State. We offered him in high school and appears to be good friends with Marquez Beason based on twitter. Also with the departures of Tony Adams and Nate Hobbs after this season would make a promising trio with Witherspoon and Beason.

Yeah this would be a prime guy to target. I remember that we recruited him hard a couple seasons ago. Would be a great addition to beason and Devon once Hobbs and Adams depart.

I recently heard that we aren’t going to be shut out from the state for very long. Also I’m excited to see if we land sedarius tomorrow. Guys a nice prospect.
You know me, at this point I don't care. I would really like to see us nail down the area of course but I don't see that happening until we win. I once looked at Ohio State's roster to see where they were pulling their talent. I believe the majority were local guys with the superstars from all over the country. Now the local guys I am talking about are high 3 and 4 star kids, and local as in the bordering states inward

Totally agree. Winning has to happen in order to convince the in-state kids to come back. We have a different strategy of doing it with late evals and transfers but we’re about to field our best roster in 10 years. Maybe a big season leads to more instate interest. But we need to go where we can get talent now, which is more than likely gonna be sec country.

I think title is tied in well to a pro Illinois area and the signals they are getting are that Illinois doesn’t care about Illinois recruits. It’s playing out. Winning is important, but so are relationships. I think we can make it work, but only because Lovie is a celebrity. Wouldn’t work long term.

MSU corner is already taken, it’s not Illinois.
