Illinois Hoops Recruiting Thread (Week of April 5th, 2021)

Not surprised. Underwood and staff have an interesting recruiting season....
We didn't want Franklin anyway.
Two things:
1) shockingly, Virginia scores. Decently. About half their games were under 70 points. They are also likely running it back with everyone from this years roster (Huff, Woldentasae and Hauser can all play for free next season and they only have 1 commitment besides Franklin. Tony Bennett is up to something)
2) everyone was right about Franklin choosing Orange and Blue. Just the wrong school.

Anyone find any centers in the transfer we have offered?
Got to thinking, perhaps we are not offering/recruiting any because the staff knows we already have ours on roster.

On Monday, one poster said this:
"Man oh man, has this Franklin thing gone super quiet. Down to final 4 of Illinois, IU, ND and LVille."
And he committed to Virginia about 75 hours later.
Recruiting is something something...
This recruiting season will not be over until late summer. Best to have patience. Pretty good start with Payne and Storr. There are plenty of players out there. This staff will get players.

I know the Krutwig to UI rumors seemingly died out some time ago, but does anyone know what he is up to next year? Overseas pro?
Honestly a good question, I have not heard anything regarding him since the coach is gone as well.
I mean... they did win a National Championship in 2019... that’s a reasonable goal.
Thought he wanted to be highlighted as a scoring and distributing guard, though. Not where you go to reach those goals, but a natty never hurts
Williamson from Loyola would be a perfect fit.
Crash and burn
I agree, the longer it takes, the worse our chances. We rarely win the drawn out battles. Looks like we are striking out on the three guards, BU will land a few players that will fill our roster out fine. Just frustrating sometimes.

There is a lot of time, but to remain in the upper half of the league consistently, we have to hit on some of these players with proven talent. The staff has shown they have a wide net and can be creative in getting players, but it is truly mindboggling the number of players we have missed this year.
