Yep. It has been updated. Funny, earlier it said 27 on the initial landing page but when you went to this page with the commits it said 47, so I didn’t know what the 27 was all about. They must have seen the disconnect and fixed it.
Hmm...is 247 only using numbers 2, 4 and 7 for our rankings now?

That's mesmerizing. I'd really be impressed, however, if you updated the GIF so each succeeding Chief rotates opposite to the preceding one. ;) The ceiling of my talent is simply to be able to identify that it's a GIF.

It probably wouldn't be that hard to do (and I am not even very good at GIFs), but I have already done zero work outside of Zoom meetings today, so probably need to earn a paycheck before making any more gifs.

I was just about to post the same. Looks like they bumped us up.

According to 247 our recruiting rankings with Underwood:

2017: 30 (Mark Smith, Trent Frazier both 4 stars,
2018: 25 (Ayo, Tevian Jones both 4 stars)
2019: 69 (Kofi 4 stars)
2020: 16 (Miller, Curbelo both 4 stars)
2021: 27 (Good and Melendez 4 stars, Podz 3 stars! WTF?)

I do question 247's value. I was surprised to see how many years 247 considered Bruce Weber's recruiting to be top 25, which differs from my recollection. Perhaps the difference is Underwood seems to do a great job of landing 4 star recruits who play above their rankings and are impactful (Ayo, Kofi, Curbelo, Miller).
The 2010 class was supposed to bring us back and wound up a complete disaster.

Richmond, Leonard and Head and all we really had to show for it was one good, not great season for Leonard while the team imploded.

1) Rankings in general this year are pretty screwy since there hasn't been AAU ball in a while and opportunities to observe have been limited due to COVID.
2) Weber recruited decently. He just never really managed to develop many of those recruits into appreciably better players than when they first came to campus and/or couldn't get his system to work with them.

Pick your class:

1.
Brandon Weston
David Jones
Jordan Nesbitt

2.
Luke Goode
Ramses Melendez
Brandin Podziemski

Yes to #1. To #2, more like Jerrance Howard recruited decently despite Bruce. But I agree the development wasn't there and Bruce wasn't the greatest motivator (those Self guys he inherited pretty much motivated themselves).

247 also has class of 2011 as #10 in national rankings. 2007 at 28? 2009 at 29?

Lots of talented players, just mostly wings.

The fixation some fans have with recruiting ratings, especially when it comes to kids outside the top 50, is borderline nuts. Our staff is light years better than the rating experts (collectively) when it come to ID-ing guys. All 3 incoming kids have high ceilings. That's plenty good for me.

Recruited decently in a vacuum. Recruited poorly from a roster-construction standpoint.

I know nobody asked but am I the only one that just noticed that Morsell is in the transfer portal??

An interesting name i am hearing some buzz around Ledarrius Brewer he is a solid 2 or 3 and shoots the three alot with close to a 40% avg..
He would fit in nicely.
I didn't know who he was a week ago, but he looks like quite a player. Think he can be good at the highest level. We could do a lot, lot worse, IMO.

Would AM announcing he's staying at Illinois qualify as "transfer news?"

Asking for a friend.

If and I mean IF miller does transfer he would slide right in the starting lineup.
Hes pretty athletic as well.
I dont think we can find a transfer who could replace miller, especially his Defense.. But he is a good start.
I agree we could do a lot worse, but our staff wont allow that this year.
