That tweet is a little misleading. Even if we were major players for him back then, that was in the Groce era. Current staff has no connection to him (or at least if they do, it predates their time at Illinois).
Thanks for the context. I wouldn't call it misleading though. He liked us once, maybe again.

Is he any good?

Seems like a good 3pt shooter, decent assist numbers. 6'0". Probably redundant with Trent and Plummer and don't think we need another undersized guard.
Good 3pt shooter? He shot 29% from 3 (career 31%) last year and 40% from the field. Pretty rough numbers overall for his career.

I agree with you though, think we have two better versions of him already in TF and AP. Need to go all-in adding length and size with our remaining spots (imo).

Edit: wow @I11ini82 I swear I started writing this before your's was posted. Weird.

Kam Craft is a '22 in-state recruit to monitor. Plays at Buffalo Grove HS. Already has offers from Maryland, Nebraska, South Carolina, and Xavier. Just got offered by NC State today. 247 has him unranked and no photo for his bio. Problem is he's a wing.

He’s legit. Friend of my sons. Significantly outplayed Christie head to head.

Yeah he was highly ranked out of high school because he played well against high school competition. That was 5 years ago. He's got 4 years of college ball under his belt we can judge him on now.
How tall is he? He looks like Kevin Hart can post him up.

Texas Tech and Oklahoma!? I knew Kam & Jaden were good....but not THAT good! We need to get our coaches together! These schools smell blood in the water and they are coming for our players! Not a good time to have our coaches in a bidding war! Hope we don't lose any of our players because our coaches can't make up their minds!
Craft is another kid who will see quite a bump up whenever the ratings are updated. He really wants an Illini offer and would likely commit soon after-really like his game, just not sure the staff is prioritizing him with Storr and Bass already in the fold.

Db11 / I agree with you that the state's overall progress in development and player's are competing on another high-level. This year's 2021/22 season will unlock the door by having one of the best πŸ‘πŸ‘Œ in πŸ‘Œ three point shooting teams with ( A. Plummer, L.Goode, a dynamite point guard in ANDRE "the wiz" CURBELO and a πŸ’― perfect offensive attack that will benefit from having all kinds of 🎿 skills that work as One πŸ™Œ"""""🌟 studded fully loaded ORANGE AND BLUE MASARATI3000. But you also must have player's play with smarts, control and accept their roles. THE COACHES -must not get caught up in individual accolades but game by game goals. I am very interested in KENDALL GILL, SEAN HARRIGTON AND 33 KENNY BATTLE/DEON THOMAS in coaching these Young " *****AIRMEN to bringing the name of the "FLYING ILLINI" to back together again.
