I'll be sad but I am confident I'll live and have that much more fandom to devote to Curbelo.About to design a "This Team Makes Me Drink" shirt for this off-season. If we lose Kofi, I'm going to be heart broken.
This will work for me until I see a Kofi dunk highlight wearing a Kentucky jersey. That's going to ruin my day when it happens.*I'll be sad but I am confident I'll live and have that much more fandom to devote to Curbelo.
Or he's a professional who doesn't tip his hand. He didn't seem any more uninterested than he has with other recruitments. Or was a very pat line I thought, which makes sense. If he stays you want him to have his moment. If he doesn't, you don't want to look like you're whining about the result.Brad seemed to be over the whole thing. Doesn’t sound emotionally invested either way. Guessing he had mentally prepared for Kofi to be gone before the transfer portal and seems to have moved on mentally. Guessing Kofi is gone but would love to be surprised.
My solution: I haven't watched SportsCenter in years. This will work for me until I see a Kofi dunk highlight wearing a Kentucky jersey. That's going to ruin my day when it happens.*
*Edit: if it happens
I could easily convince myself of the opposite. If I were to be optimistic.....Churchill quote.
A quick google search has the meaning as: It is very important to know where you come from to know where you are going.
Doesn't seem encouraging for us.
Welcome! Thank you for joining the board!I don't think we should pay college players .. But if that's the case then they should remove scholarships all together. And make them pay their own way.. It's a way to get the powerhouse schools back in top.. Seriously who are ppl gonna watch in final game... Baylor Virginia? Or UK DUKE??
I only watch SportsCenter after my team wins a big gameMy solution: I haven't watched SportsCenter in years.
As Illinois fans we need to stop clinging to any scenario where things go our way...FIFY.As a fanbase we need to stop clinging to epherial scenarios where things go our way in face of overwhelming opposing evidence.
Pretty funny for someone with your username to make this statement.I'm no insider, but it's obvious that Kofi is not coming back to Illinois. Selling his Illini swag, his team canvassing top programs for NIL potential... As a fanbase we need to stop clinging to epherial scenarios where things go our way in face of overwhelming opposing evidence.
He's holding out to see which restaurant will pay the most for a signed autographed picture of him eating there. He's just trying to figure out where to get dinner in Champaign. Relax guys
No idea what this means, but since we're on 24/7 Kofi watch...
We just started a long hot summer here in California and this whole Kofi kerfuffle isn’t helping my mood.
But I will say this. We should hang our hat on the fact our staff:
1. Recognized the potential in Kofi as a high schooler. Who else did that? Kentucky, Kansas, Duke?
2. In two short years, they sculpted him into physical Greek god.
3. In those same two years, they developed him from an awkward, one (no) dimensional basketballer into a second team All American. Show me a similar success.
Sure, some other college staff MIGHT have accomplished the same, but our staff DID IT.
No one can take that away from us; if Kofi leaves, that legacy STAYS AT ILLINOIS.
Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, yes you can all take a 5 star McD and turn him into an NBA first rounder, but you have yet to transform a Kofi into KOFI.
0nly two other BIG teams offered (IU and Minny), no Duke, no Kansas.I mean his development has been great at Illinois but to say he was not recognized as an elite player with excellent potential (247 has him at 46 overall) is selling the other programs a bit short.
Withdrew from NBA action too.....tells ya something.I mean his development has been great at Illinois but to say he was not recognized as an elite player with excellent potential (247 has him at 46 overall) is selling the other programs a bit short.
