Go Nats 88 Illini

Fairfax, VA
And I remember the Illini loss to Nebraska in 1985 52-25. Remember the score from the palindrome. They were so much faster and bigger than we were. The score made it seem we competed. We did not. So nice to just win. Go Illini! We are entering a new era.

What a satisfying season opener! Not perfect but it is a W with no big embarrassments against a B1G team. We just need Coach to go ahead and lose some (maybe a lot) of weight so the statue won't be too big.

Go Illini!

Well, start with the negative, naturally:
- Nebraska did not get off the bus and that might be our easiest game bar Charlotte
- A fair amount of luck came our way, one senses the whole game might have hinged on that Charmin soft roughing the passer that erased the INT
- Very possible we lost our most impactful and least replaceable players on both sides of the ball to long term injury.

With all of that said, your eyes do not deceive, that was just a different football program that contested that game than the one we've become accustomed to for a decade or more. Real football being played in Champaign, what a sight for sore eyes.

And I was just recalling sitting in the east balcony on a sunny September early evening watching Nebraska crush us the following season ('86) 59-14. I recall it was 21-0 within five minutes of the kickoff. Just awful. To be fair, I recall they were ranked around #5 at the time. But yeah, like Michigan's line in those days, they were just so much bigger than we were.

1-0 beats 0-1 any day. Onward and upward!

Man being on quarantine I could not be happier. What a great win! Now it's on to the Little League World Series in Michigan and Hawaii it's 2-1. I love Saturdays.

I was at the game in 1986 where we lost 59-14. I left when it was 28-0 (first quarter).

Well, start with the negative, naturally:
- Nebraska did not get off the bus and that might be our easiest game bar Charlotte ...they did get off the bus..along with their terrible coach
- A fair amount of luck came our way, one senses the whole game might have hinged on that Charmin soft roughing the passer that erased the INT....a fair amount of luck went to Nebby...and they failed to capitalize as well as the Illini
- Very possible we lost our most impactful and least replaceable players on both sides of the ball to long term injury.....and we overcame that in a special way.

With all of that said, your eyes do not deceive, that was just a different football program that contested that game than the one we've become accustomed to for a decade or more. Real football being played in Champaign, what a sight for sore eyes.

I see your negative and raise you some negative on your negative!!!!:p
