I mean...I'm assuiming the "other" BB touched him at least once in NE? That alone could break the Gunther/Beckman Curse.

Edit: I apologize for the potential mental image from this...
Yeah... I went all Mystic River (speaking of NE) when I read that...

Starting the season against a Power 5 team, and winning, will build confidence for all of our players, and the new coaches. I told my OSU Buckeye friend that I had a good feeling about this season, and of course he laughed at me. Nothing would make me happier than for the Illini to go up against OSU in the Big 10 title game this season. Yes, I have been drinking.

Loved the win, BUT that is my only complaint. Chase B is built for churning up clock and getting 1st downs.
He was exactly what they needed on several drives in the 2nd half. DO NOT understand the staff not going with him?!?!?!
Guessing it was an injury (slowing him in) or an off the field matter. Hopefully someone asks why in interviews this week. He's too good to get just a few carries.

Video presser from Coach?
This is what I can never understand... Most teams in the nation produce a presser (particularly after a win) within about 30-45 minutes of game ending... For some reason, Illinois can't get one produced and out to the public in under 3 hours.... I just don't understand it ....

Deadly seriousness.....I am horse from cheering during this game.....probably early 2000's the last time that's happened for Illinois Football.

Thank you BB. For you Bobby.

RE: Chase Brown, it was said in the post, post game show that it was known he would be limited today. I believe they said that came from Bielema. I assume that means he has some type of injury.

Huge, huge win obviously. I agree the most satisfying part was to look like a D1 team that knew what it was doing out there. Exactly what I hoped and expected from a Bielema coached team. It was also a great day to have a ton of recruits in attendance.

Anxious to hear, if we do, the injury report. We don’t have the depth to withstand injuries at most positions. 3 plus Beason out pregame and a couple that look questionable after today.

It’s win #1, he might be talking to the team and enjoying the win.

Huge add in Sitkowski. Yeah, he's not great, but we majorly needed an upgrade at backup QB. And he's definitely that. Very intrigued by the now 2nd string QB Johnson too.
Disagree on "not great" on Sitkoski -- he was really good, 12 for 15. He's a top recruit with 2 yrs experience, was getting killed behind a terrible o-line.

With our decent o-line, he might be great. He was still better than what Peters has shown since 2019

Perhaps... But this is not a one time thing... This has been going on since before Zooks tenure... And the WCIA presser was 3:30 of nothing by logo, then 2:30 of horrible audio...

Illini beat Nebraska in consecutive years for the 2nd time ever, with the previous occurrence being in 1923-24. Bielema is the 1st Illini coach to win his B1G opener since John Mackovic, who won at Ohio State back in 1988.

Just to add to this, this was Illinois' first win at Memorial Stadium (the Champaign one) since November 2nd, 2019 when they defeated Rutgers. Bielema is also the 1st Illini coach to win his B1G opener at home since Mike White, who defeated Northwestern back in 1980. That was also the last time Illinois won a B1G opener that was also the team's first game of the season.

And I was just recalling sitting in the east balcony on a sunny September early evening watching Nebraska crush us the following season ('86) 59-14. I recall it was 21-0 within five minutes of the kickoff. Just awful. To be fair, I recall they were ranked around #5 at the time. But yeah, like Michigan's line in those days, they were just so much bigger than we were.

1-0 beats 0-1 any day. Onward and upward!
I was late to the game, first play I saw made it 21-0.

Ok....there needs to be an official explanation for the exclusion of the pass to Deuce in the highlight video.

If there's 5 better passes from Illini QB's this year...I'll eat crow.
1) Crow is delicious I’m not sure why nobody else wants to eat it.
2) I’m still confused how it wasn’t a touchdown.
4) I’m too drunk to count
