Video presser from Coach?
Halftime adjustments. Something we haven’t seen the past five seasons. How about the in game improvement from the O-Line? 1st game in new system, struggled then really clicked against a pretty decent dline from Nebraska.
Yeah... I went all Mystic River (speaking of NE) when I read that...I mean...I'm assuiming the "other" BB touched him at least once in NE? That alone could break the Gunther/Beckman Curse.
Edit: I apologize for the potential mental image from this...
When you're Steve Alford it is. And remember, half the cheerleaders were male. That’s punishment?
Loved the win, BUT that is my only complaint. Chase B is built for churning up clock and getting 1st downs.Do we know why Chase B only got 5 carries?
Guessing it was an injury (slowing him in) or an off the field matter. Hopefully someone asks why in interviews this week. He's too good to get just a few carries.Loved the win, BUT that is my only complaint. Chase B is built for churning up clock and getting 1st downs.
He was exactly what they needed on several drives in the 2nd half. DO NOT understand the staff not going with him?!?!?!
This is what I can never understand... Most teams in the nation produce a presser (particularly after a win) within about 30-45 minutes of game ending... For some reason, Illinois can't get one produced and out to the public in under 3 hours.... I just don't understand it ....Video presser from Coach?
I have been thinking about that game all week. And I remember the Illini loss to Nebraska in 1985 52-25. Remember the score from the palindrome. They were so much faster and bigger than we were. The score made it seem we competed. We did not. So nice to just win. Go Illini! We are entering a new era.
I know where you're coming from, but I really hope notAnd can we all just go ahead and agree right now that those two punts in the first half...and the Sitkowski toss into Deuce's cereal box...are three of the Top 10 plays we will see all season?
Deadly seriousness.....I am horse from cheering during this game.....probably early 2000's the last time that's happened for Illinois Football.
Thank you BB. For you Bobby.
Don't stop now boys!
It’s win #1, he might be talking to the team and enjoying the win. This is what I can never understand... Disagree on "not great" on Sitkoski -- he was really good, 12 for 15. He's a top recruit with 2 yrs experience, was getting killed behind a terrible o-line.Huge add in Sitkowski. Yeah, he's not great, but we majorly needed an upgrade at backup QB. And he's definitely that. Very intrigued by the now 2nd string QB Johnson too.
Perhaps... But this is not a one time thing... This has been going on since before Zooks tenure... And the WCIA presser was 3:30 of nothing by logo, then 2:30 of horrible audio...It’s win #1, he might be talking to the team and enjoying the win.
Illini beat Nebraska in consecutive years for the 2nd time ever, with the previous occurrence being in 1923-24. Bielema is the 1st Illini coach to win his B1G opener since John Mackovic, who won at Ohio State back in 1988.
Seemed like the RB's all had opportunities but Epstein runs with some power & ended up with 4.6 ypcDo we know why Chase B only got 5 carries?
I was late to the game, first play I saw made it 21-0.And I was just recalling sitting in the east balcony on a sunny September early evening watching Nebraska crush us the following season ('86) 59-14. I recall it was 21-0 within five minutes of the kickoff. Just awful. To be fair, I recall they were ranked around #5 at the time. But yeah, like Michigan's line in those days, they were just so much bigger than we were.
1-0 beats 0-1 any day. Onward and upward!
1) Crow is delicious I’m not sure why nobody else wants to eat it.Ok....there needs to be an official explanation for the exclusion of the pass to Deuce in the highlight video.
If there's 5 better passes from Illini QB's this year...I'll eat crow.
