On the phone with my brother....he starts to talk about that huge defensive play by Randolph on holding the RB from getting in on the 2pt....

"That defensive play in the 9th overtime was so...."

I cut him off and said....."dude.....those words have never been uttered in human history....you are literally the first person to ever start a sentence with those words!"

When I said that it smells like Extra Football, I didn't think it would be quite that extra.

I saw none of it, but followed it on my phone. I think the people at Trader Joe's on Darnestown might have been a little startled when the Illini tied it at 10.

The thing that irked me personally about Bielema's comments was not just the whiplash from bringing all the super seniors back and doing our best to be as good as we can to the language of tanking and years of meaninglessness, but because this is so clearly not that kind of team! We've been right in these games, and goodness knows that's a different Year 1 experience than we're used to.

So it's so encouraging to see us still grinding for every inch out there. The culture that builds will be far, far more valuable than giving unearned reps to lesser freshmen out of some galaxy brained idea of the future.

Proud day to be an Illini, our kids fought down to the edges of their fingernails in that game.

Just keep chopping that wood.

I can't say I agree with this.

Sweet Jesus. I had to leave for an appointment at the end of the 4th quarter- apparently I missed half the game lol. Good thing I recorded this game… really looking forward to seeing the ending!

I think the best part of this game is how much we dominated this game on both sides of the ball. That Penn St offense couldn't get much going the entire game against this defense. Fortunately our offense did exactly what they needed to do. Move the chains and hold the ball so the defense isn't on the field the entire game.

Even if we had lost this game I would walked away feeling very optimistic. If we can just play every game like this and stay in every game I will be happy. Luckily we have been in 6 of our 8 games so far which is all I ask for.

I just knew we were going to win!! I called it on 2 different threads, but I said 9 - 3 or 9 - 6, can't remember now. This team is better than the record.

Great great win. Just wish we had some sort of productive passing game to compliment our awesome running attack. We will need it when we play teams with good rush defenses like Wisky. Hopefully a win like this will open the recuiting doors a little wider as an up and coming program. Go Illini. Now on to basketball tonite .
