Well that one put the fight back in Fighting Illini. Sloppy defensively at times, but no lack of hustle and effort by freshmen, transfers, and vets alike. Great overall team win. This team will continue to get healthier and better, should be fun to watch again this year. Have to admit, I had a few doubts during our recent bumpy stretch.

Was unable to watch until the very end -- if anybody is bored and wants to write up their thoughts on how the individual guys (particularly the guys outside of Kofi, Trent, DMW, Grandy) looked, I would appreciate it!
Can’t pass that up:

Damonte - started at PG due to injuries/illness. Cool customer - had four assists, one turnover and 1-1 shooting (a three) in the first ten minutes. Set the tone that everything is fine.

Plummer - big threes early to keep pace and get a lead. Ended up missing a lot later, but kept shooting and found it again. Clutch FTs late.

Melendez- started. Hit two threes. Got beat off the dribble on ND’s first two possessions, but settled in defensively after that. Fantastic effort for first start.

Hawk - two fouls and a turnover in the first three minutes. Played well in the second half. Opinions range from “slightly worse than Hitler” to “Kobe, but taller”

Kofi - disappointing only 28 points after 30+ last two games. Just kidding. Great as always and good FT shooting

Trent/Grandi- outstanding, gritty play off the bench fighting through injury/illness

Goode - reinforced the Lucas Johnson with a jump shot in all the best ways

Omar - played some, didn’t really impact anything

Some of the sets to Kofi were beautiful tonight. We didn’t just throw it in and hope for the best every time.
I thought up until maybe 5 minutes left in game, Kofi looked the smoothest I think I’ve seen him on offense. Every move had a purpose and he was passing out of the post as well as I’ve seen. Later in game he did have a few of those possessions where he just kind of throws the ball up on the glass. Some of that is because he’s getting fouled, but more so just getting hurried. But all-around great game by Kofi. What a weapon.

I feel a bunch better going into the next few games...just have to get a few more players back...good to see Frazier closer to being Frazier, not all the way there but soon...

This is a good team with tons of potential to be great. Just need to stay focus and hungry with the mentality of having unfinished business (and of course stay healthy. I despise injuries to anyone). King Kofi was again amazing tonight and seeing Trent out there was so impressive too.
Also I lol'ed when the Orange Crush was chanting "LSU! LSU! LSU!" haha our fans are great.

I think they are starting to find their identity as a team. Hope the big "it" that every good team has continues to grow. Think they are really starting to trust and buy into every man accountable to others BU philosophy.

Kofi.................ELITE...........knocked down a 15 ft shot and reeked havoc in the paint...ND had no answer
Trent...............ELITE.......the heartbeat of the team................shot was off a little but played 30 + mins
DMW..............ELITE......typical all around game.........rebs.....played good D
Plummer........ELITE....shot good in first half........hit all his FT's.....D still a project but better
RJ ....................Good .started and hit two 3pters first half.....
Goode..........plays so poised for a frosh.......fought for jump ball and brought back Lucas J. memories
CoHawk......rough first half...played better second half ....nice offensive put back bucket late
Jake...............hit a couple 3's and played good for not practicing

Coach Underwood just said in the radio interview that DMW was throwing up at halftime and why he didn't start second half...

JMHO , our second half start tonight was one of the better starts in memory......

Game thread still hurts to read and wonder why people post such negative BS , but that's their choice.........NOT MINE ..........................

GO ILLINI ...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trent’s surprise entrance seemed to put the swagger back into the team.
Reminded me of that pro wrestling trope when one guy is in a close battle & suddenly you hear music …the announcer says “Oh my god, That’s Trent Frazier’s music!”, and his buddy comes in and cleans house.
We went from treading water to obviously being the best team on the floor.
It’s the stuff of legend.

Hey we finally avenged the '03 tourney loss.
that was in the back of my mind all game. I remember that miserable fkn day clearly. I had set my VCR (!) to record the game while I was stuck at work. I stopped in a bar to grab some food on the way home from work, planning to enjoy some food and watch the tape. Then I saw the damn score on TV while I was waiting in the bar. It was cold, raining and I just remember the rest of my day was so dark and depressing.
