Nice way to start the B1G schedule.

Pretty balanced scoring attack.

I liked the Kofi hockey assists the most tonight. I saw at least 2 of them.
That's a true AA. A guy who isn't afraid to give it up and let a teammate shoot the rock too.

Raise your hand if you had Kofi in single digits for points and rebounds and Illinois still winning.

Yeah...me neither.

But he actually got 5 assists. Take a bow, @skydub you were right.

Edit: Something screwy with that stat page. It shows him with both 13 and 6 points. ...the heck?

Curbelo-LESS --- and we win by 35. Impressive guys!

The long journey to ultimately peaking in late February and March has now begun.
Cool...hi Deon!

Hopefully this team just took the next step. Tons of talent on this squad

As we all know, Underwood says "elite" 10-15 times each press conference.

I've now heard Robbie Hummel say it once in all his time on TV. "Alfonso Plummer is an ELITE scorer."

A pretty complete win for the Illini.

Love to see the success of the hi-low set that worked so well.
This was the last brick in the wall, getting enough shooters to surround Kofi so it is always a pick-your-poison challenge for opponents.

Kudos to the staff re Kofi's development to make this new aspect of his game pay off with the roster.

One thing I have learned from the last couple games. Plummer has to start the rest of the season, can’t not start him. Once Curbelo comes back, here is your starting line up. DMW and Grandison first off bench.

curbelo
Trent
Plummer
Hawkins
Kofi

i wonder if Underwood kept the starters in longer than normal because of the lack of practice with them all healthy. So many positives from this game.
Kofi kicking out opens the shooters up for wide open threes And sets us up for a return pass to the post for Kofi to have better position if the d closes on the shooter.
Hawkins defense and the help D.
Payne’s D
Ball movement was great.
R.Js speed 😱
Better cohesiveness
Williams aggressive on offense.
Our Depth
PLUMMER

Fun game!

Three small guards. Would not bet on it. Believe it will always be Jake or DMFW when we're at full strength.

Bottom-line --- the starters don't really matter.

I really like what Melendez gives us: a lot of hustle plays, smart plays, little things... similar to what I see Damonte Williams and Grandison doing on a regular basis.

I think (and hope) that Melendez and Ty Rodgers--based on the type of player the latter is expected to be--may be the guys that do all the little things after Williams and Grandison are gone.

LOVE seeing Kofi's game continue to grow--passing out of the double team!!! >>> leading to an open 3 or the guards immediately feeding him again on the block!

Huh? He had 13 points and 15 rebounds.

5-6 from the line. I like that.
Kofi also did a good job passing out of the double team multiple times. This also led to an extra pass and a 3 pointer on a couple occasions.

if he continues to show the ability to move the ball out of the double, it’s going to help us immeasurably going forward.
