It just came up since Adrian Martinez entered the transfer portal....just something to talk about. Less to do with speculation of him coming here at all.
That being said we can talk about recruiting all we want but we are many years and coaches gone of when I thought we would have a consistent QB in place. I think BB is going to build a winner here. I know for one he is getting the pieces in place but hope he can land a solid QB sooner than later.

An OT named Marcelo Mendiola is leaving Cincinnati and entering the portal. He played high school at Chicago Mt. Carmel and visited the Illini when he played there.
According to Hudl his 40 time is 4.39.

This kid is no joke. My bother, fellow Illini and Glen Ellyn resident says "Burnett was a stud at South all 4 years. At the very least, he will be a great kick and punt returner."
Looked him up , found an article that listed him as the 4th best RB in the state.

I think we are on the same page but I thought it would be a moment to further flesh out my thoughts. Win or lose against Northwestern, the staff was going to add 3-4 preps to their class. McCantos is a great addition and boost via class rankings. I'm looking more for someone like Thomas or Austin Brown (I need someone to say Bielema still has a chance. You can even lie to me) or Anthony Brown (current Arkansas commit) that would elevate the quality of the class. Illinois' AVG score is still sluggish compared to the rest of the Big Ten (i.e., the quality is lacking) and getting a top-500 or 600 recruit would be a nice boost. It also would create some buzz with some Big Ten writers and make the sell easier for the 2023 class.

His wardrobe wouldn’t need to change very much.
I don’t really have an opinion, have never seen him play, but to me there are some attitude red flags in this article. While it is a sympathetic story (and was definitely sold that way to the writer), DeVito also comes across as a prima donna.
