We really snuck out of there today. So many bad turnovers and mental mistakes. But toughness wins, and the rebounds show it. Plummer & Kofi. Not sure who is Batman right now. Maybe we have Batmen.

It was frustrating against the press, but some of the comments in game thread were funny. Did Illini have too many TOs against it? Yes. But there is a reason that teams press. If it was as easy to break at the major college level as some make out, no team would ever press.
No team should ever press BECAUSE it should be easy to beat and it should result in a layup every time. Inbound - draw the double team or push the ball down the court quickly - when they double team someone is open - you should have two guys breaking to the ball - identify and make the pass and it's fast break time. Take the layup - draw the foul. if they press you wanna run and you want to draw fouls. If you press you want to sew confusion and tie up the ball handler FAST in a quick double team. The press SHOULD only be useful every once in a while when they don't expect it. You shouldn't be able to press on every inbound. IMHO of course.

Didn’t see the game. Seems we beat Iowa, at Iowa, without our point guard, and we’re complaining about turnovers??? Good job, guys!
I get where you're coming from, but let's be honest, AC is gonna also have his fair share of TO's. And I'm ok with that. But we cannot continue to make careless cross court passes, dribble into three defenders, and commit multiple ten second violations (of which we made two in a two straight possessions tonight) at the other positions on the floor. AC is not gonna cure all of those mistakes. It is possible to be very happy with the win - while remaining a huge fan of the team - but also desire improvement in areas that have been exposed as weaknesses.

We rebounded more than half our misses tonight. 19 offensive boards. 18 turnovers is so so many and we STILL generated a net +1 scoring opportunity.

Good win, men!

Weathered several storms and kept most of our body parts tucked in during the roller coaster rides as well.

IF Curbelo comes back this year, we are a much better team regardless, due to him being out, primarily. Guys have had to play positions not expecting to this year and it will pay off in the end.

I certainly understand tightening the rotations in conference games and there have been injuries, but can someone in the know help me understand no Hutcherson (basically again), no Payne in the second half and to some degree no Melendez, who seems like a potential press breaker and seems to always have + minutes.

Yeah, I get what you’re saying too, but it’s also ok to say right after a hard-fought win, “Great job, guys!” And just stop at that. But let’s not argue, my fellow fan. WE JUST BEAT IOWA AT IOWA! I-L-L

I'm low key mad at BU after hearing he was laughing and enjoying a chat with Fran pre-game.
he knew we were gonna play just bad enough for them to think they had a chance but just good enough that they never truly did?
Im telling mysefl it was an evil laugh
